The project consultant is a general position consisting of a wide range of tasks from various disciplines. Project consultants extend the project experience to their employer or clients to help them achieve their business goals. These projects can be operationally, strategically or technically viable. Project consultants are experts in their chosen fields, as people are looking for successful consultants in the field of consulting. Because this space is so large, project consultants can find work in almost any factory. Fortune 500 companies may have in-house consulting staff, but most work with a consulting firm or as a consultant. As it is a project-based space, the number of hours a person works per week depends on the weight of the project.

Once project consultants understand client goals and available resources, they create a project plan that describes how resources will be used to reach project boundaries.
