Mechanical Engineering Careers List

What do mechanical engineers do?
Mechanical engineers research, design, develop, build and test mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, including tools, motors and machines.
Duties of Mechanical Engineers
Mechanical engineers usually do the following:
  •  Analyze problems to determine how mechanical and thermal devices can help solve a specific problem.
  • Design or review mechanical and thermal devices or subsystems using computer-assisted analysis and designInvestigate equipment failures or difficulties in diagnosing malfunction and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and test prototypes of the devices you design.
  • Analyze the test results and change the design or system as necessary.
  • Supervise the manufacturing process of the device.
  • Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest technical areas. Mechanical engineers design and supervise the manufacturing of many products, from medical devices to new batteries.

Mechanical engineers design power generating machines, such as electric generators, internal combustion engines, steam and gas turbines, and power generating machines, such as cooling and air conditioning systems.
Mechanical engineers build other machines in buildings, e.g. B. Elevators and escalators. They also design material flow systems, such as transportation systems and automated transfer stations.
Mechanical engineers, like other engineers, often use computers. Mechanical engineers are routinely responsible for the integration of sensors, controls and machines. Computer technology allows machine manufacturers to create and analyze designs, run simulations and test the operation of a machine, interact with connected systems and create specifications for parts.
Job Outlook for Mechanical Engineers
Mechanical engineering employment is expected to grow 4 percent over the next ten years, as fast as the average for all professions. Mechanical engineers can work in many industries and in many types of projects. As a result, their growth rate differs depending on the industries in which they are employed.
Machine builders are expected to see above average growth in engineering services as companies continue to employ these companies. Mechanical engineers will continue to work in various manufacturing industries, particularly the automotive industry. These engineers will perform key functions to improve the range and performance of hybrid and electric cars. However, the decline in employment in some manufacturing industries will dampen the general employment growth of machine builders.
Job prospects for mechanical engineers
The prospects for machine builders in general are likely to be good. They are best suited for those who are trained in the latest software tools, especially with regard to computer design and simulation. With these tools, engineers and designers can lead a project from the concept phase directly to the finished product without the need for prototypes.
Mechanical engineering students who can learn to create virtual simulations before moving on to the design, engineering, and testing phase can place high demands on companies because these skills can shorten product development cycles.
Engineers with experience or training in three-dimensional printing also have better job prospects.

Architecture and engineering manager
The architecture and engineering manager’s plan, manage and coordinate activities in architecture and engineering companies.
Editor
Editors use software to convert technical and architectural designs into technical drawings. Most employees specialize in architectural, construction, electrical or mechanical drawings and use technical drawings to design everything from microchips to skyscrapers.
Materials engineers
Material engineers develop, process and test materials with which a multitude of products are produced, from computer chips to aircraft wings, golf clubs and biomedical devices. They study the properties and structures of metals, ceramics, plastics, composites, nanomaterials (extremely small substances) and other substances in order to create new materials that meet certain mechanical, electrical and chemical requirements.
Mathematician and statistician
Mathematicians and statisticians analyze data and apply mathematical and statistical techniques to solve real world problems in the areas of business, engineering, healthcare or other areas.
Mechanical engineer
Mechanical engineers support mechanical engineers in the design, development, testing and production of mechanical devices, including tools, motors and machines. You can create rough sketches and layouts, record and analyze data, perform calculations and estimates, and report on their results.
Scientific director
Scientific leaders oversee the work of scientists, including chemists, physicists and biologists. They carry out research and development activities and coordinate activities such as testing, quality control and production.
Nuclear engineers
Nuclear engineers research and develop processes, tools and systems that benefit from nuclear energy and radiation. Many of these engineers find industrial and medical uses for radioactive substances, for example in devices for diagnosis and medical treatment.
Petroleum engineers
Oil engineers design and develop methods for extracting oil and gas from underground deposits. Oil engineers are also looking for new ways to extract oil and gas from older wells.
Physicists and astronomers
Physicists and astronomers are studying how different forms of matter and energy interact. Physicists and theoretical astronomers can study the nature of time or the origin of the universe. Some physicists design and conduct experiments with advanced devices such as particle accelerators, electron microscopes and lasers.
Sales Engineers
Sales engineers sell complex scientific and technological products or services to companies. You need to understand the parts and functions of products and understand the scientific processes they work with.
